The Pox is upon us

It has been 3 weeks now since the kids were infected by the Chicken Pox. It started with a neighbour getting it and passed to Uzair then we passed it to another neighbour. Nak buat macamanakan hidup berjiran begitu lah hehehe. Uzair got it 3 weeks ago during the school’s 2 weeks long spring break. His siblings got it 2 weeks after. Ammar got sikit sangat macam tak ada sahaja. The girls still have scabs on them. Ammar and Uzair got their Chicken Pox vaccination when they were little. So their pox were not that bad. As for the girls, we didn’t get them vaccinated so it was worse for them. My advise to parents who haven’t got the kids vaccinated pergilah bawa mereka dan dapatkan vaksinasi itu. Unless you don’t mind sleepless nights sehari dua :D

Having the kids down with the chicken pox made me took a stroll down memory lane. I got my chicken pox when I was in standard 5. My mother and opah made me eat nothing but Ikan Masak Pindang. I had enough of it sampai sekarang pun kembang tekak mengingatkannya. But I enjoyed the time when my mom or my opah tolong garu belakang with daun semambu. :)

Since the kids are down with Chicken Pox, the mother is also quarantined in the house. Terperuk in the house for 2 weeks can make your brain explode did you know that? So today I googled “How Does Chicken Pox Spread” and found the article below. Despite our belief that the Chicken Pox spread masa tengah kering, it actually spreads 1 or 2 days before the rash comes out ! That meanss esok aku boleh keluar berjalan-jalan. Yahoooo !!!

ps : this pic of my daughter crying not due to chicken pox but simply because she didn’t want to put on her clothes after her shower. read : budak suka berlengging !

You haven’t been feeling so great for the last few days, and you’ve had a runny nose and a cough. Then one morning you wake up and stumble into the bathroom. You look in the mirror with blurry eyes and — yikes! You have chickenpox!

What Is Chickenpox?

Chickenpox is caused by a virus called varicella zostervaricella zoster. People who get the virus often develop a rash of spots that look like blisters all over their bodies. The blisters are small and sit on an area of red skin that can be anywhere from the size of a pencil eraser to the size of a dime.

You’ve probably heard that chickenpox are itchy. It’s true. The illness also may come along with a runny nose and cough. But the good news is that chickenpox is a common illness for kids and most people get better by just resting like you do with a cold or the flu. And the really good news is that, thanks to the chickenpox vaccinevaccine, lots of kids don’t get chickenpox at all. Kids who do get it, if they got the shot, often get less severe cases, which means they get better quicker.

What Happens When You Have Chickenpox?

Chickenpox may start out seeming like a cold: You might have a runny or stuffy nose, sneezing, and a cough. But 1 to 2 days later, the rash begins, often in bunches of spots on the chest and face. From there it can spread out quickly over the entire body — sometimes the rash is even in a person’s ears and mouth. The number of pox is different for everyone. Some people get just a few bumps; others are covered from head to toe.

At first, the rash looks like pinkish dots that quickly develop a small blister on top (a blister is a bump on your skin that fills up with fluid). After about 24 to 48 hours, the fluid in the blisters gets cloudy and the blisters begin to crust over.

Chickenpox blisters show up in waves, so after some begin to crust over, a new group of spots may appear. New chickenpox usually stop appearing by the seventh day, though they may stop as early as the third day. It usually takes 10–14 days for all the blisters to be scabbed over and then you are no longer contagious.

Besides the rash, someone with chickenpox might also have a stomachache, a feverfever, and may just not feel well.

How Does Chickenpox Spread?

Chickenpox contagiouscontagious, meaning that someone who has it can easily spread it to someone else. Someone who has chickenpox is most contagious during the first 2 to 5 days that he or she is sick. That’s usually about 1 to 2 days before the rash shows up. So you could be spreading around chickenpox without even knowing it!

A person who has chickenpox can pass it to someone else by coughing or sneezing. When he or she coughs, sneezes, laughs, and even talks, tiny drops come out of the mouth and nose. These drops are full of the chickenpox virus. It’s easy for someone else to breathe in these drops or get them on his or her hands. Before you know it, the chickenpox virus has infected someone new.

Itchy Itchy, Scratchy Scratchy

If you are that unlucky person, how do you keep your chickenpox from driving you crazy? They itch, but you’re not supposed to scratch them.

These tips can help you feel less itchy:

  • Keep cool because heat and sweat will make you itch more. You might want to put a cool, wet washcloth on the really bad areas.
  • Trim your fingernails, so if you do scratch, they won’t tear your skin.
  • Soak in a lukewarm bath. Adding some oatmealoatmeal to your bath water can help relieve the itching.
  • Have your mom or dad help you apply calamine lotion, which soothes itching.

Scratching the blisters can tear your skin and leave scars. Scratching can also let germs in, and the blisters could get infected. If your fever goes higher and an area of your skin gets really red, warm, and painful, tell an adult right away. You’ll need to see a doctor because you could have a skin infection.

While you have the chickenpox, a pain reliever like acetaminophenacetaminophen might help you feel better, but let your parents help you with this.

Do not take aspirin because it can cause a rare but serious illness in kids called Reye syndrome. Medicines and creams that may stop the itch can also be helpful.

It doesn’t usually happen, but let your parents know if you feel especially bad. Sometimes, chickenpox leads to other, more serious illnesses.

Usually, you won’t have any major problems and you’ll get better in a week or two. And when all the blisters have scabs, you’re not contagious anymore and you can go back to school! In a few days, the scabs will fall off. And once you’ve had chickenpox, it’s unlikely you’ll ever get it again.

Get a Shot, Avoid the Dots!

Not long ago, 3 million people got chickenpox each year in the United States. But now that kids receive the shot, fewer and fewer people get chickenpox. Have you had the chickenpox vaccine? You might not remember because it’s often given at age 1. But you can get it when you’re older, too. Ask your mom or dad if you’ve had yours. You’ll be glad that you did if chickenpox starts making its way around your school!

Ayat-ayat Cinta

Just finished watching this movie after being recommended by a friend of Encik Suami. Katanya “di Indonesia sudah 3 juta yang nonton”.

Synopsis are taken from the movie official website –> Ayat-Ayat Cinta

Ayat Ayat Cinta is a beautifully portrayed Islamic love story – a tale of a virtuous Muslim protagonist who overcomes all obstacles of life maintaining pure ideals.

Fahri bin Abdillah is a poor, intelligent student who wins a scholarship to complete his graduate degree at Egypt’s esteemed Al Azhar University. Very disciplined and dedicated by nature, Fahri embraces his life in Cairo, completing his studies and translation of religious books with full enthusiasm, exactly according to pre-determined targets.

Only one goal is left unattempted: the pursuit of marriage.

For Fahri is innocent and pure, and doesn’t believe in the concept of relationships prior to marriage. He is inarticulate and shy around women. All his life, only two women have been close to him – his mother and grandmother.

Life changes drastically in Egypt for he suddenly finds himself surrounded by four beautiful, distinctly different women.

Maria Girgis, a shy, open-minded Coptic-Christian neighbor who is attracted to the teachings of the Holy Al Quran, finds herself falling in love with Fahri (a fact she only reveals to her diary).
Nurul, a student at Al Azhar like Fahri, is the Muslim daughter of a renowned Indonesian cleric. Fahri feels unworthy of her and thus ignores his feelings for her, leaving her confused and guessing.

Noura, an abused Egyptian neighbor, develops strong romantic feelings for Fahri, who in turn simply sympathizes with her situation. His romantic rejection destroys her and eventually leads to a false accusation of rape.

Aisha, a German Turkish student in Cairo haunts Fahri with her beautiful eyes. Following an incident on the metro where Fahri defends her against narrow minded bigoted Muslims, both immediately develop feelings for each other.

As the story unravels, the protagonist makes the audience face the daunting decisions he himself faces, and forces us to marvel at his undying loyalty to the true ideals of Islam as he ultimately makes the choice of a lifetime.

Pie Tee

ini resipi yang baru dicuba semalam. Setelah setahun lebih beli acuan Pie Tee ni baru semalam saya try buat. Adunan dia sangat muai.

Sebab kat sini susah nak jumpa sengkuang.
